BrainPOP

Fuel a love for learning that leads to meaningful, measurable growth.

So, this is an informational blog post, of course, but it is also an appreciation post for BrainPOP. Colleagues, I hope that your school district has invested in this platform for your schools because it really is amazing! For just about anything I can teach about in the library, there is a BrainPOP topic that aligns. First, what IS BrainPOP?

BrainPOP is a learning platform that provides educational content about hundreds (maybe even thousands) of different topics in a way that's easily digestible for students. While the platform is conducive to independent learning--educators can assign topics, give students headphones, and go on there way--I have found that it is best used as a lesson tool. For example, I use BrainPOP for a lot of history topics--Black History Month, Women's History Month, etc. We take time to pause videos and engage in discussion. It really enhances my lessons. With provided quizzes, it is an excellent way to confirm students' understanding.

A few additional thoughts...

Cost
Honestly, I am not sure how much BrainPOP costs because my district has a subscription. I do know that the platform offers a 30-day trial for free. It is worth checking out!

Ease of Use
The fact that BrainPOP provides so many topics in nearly every subject area, really makes it easy to use for everyone. Whether you are teaching science, history, or art, you can find a topic on BrainPOP that would align with your lesson.

What say you? Are you already using BrainPOP? What do you think? How have you used it recently?
